Fantagraphics Research
When was Fantagraphics founded and by who?
In 1976 by co-founder and co-publisher Gary Groth and co-founder Mike Catron
In what city are Fantagraphics based and what is different about their headquarters?
The company is based is it's Seattle HeadQuarters and Snohonmish County of Sultan, more specifically an isolated stretch of forest located there. What is different is that they have an armoury that includes a 9mm pistol, a 10mm pistol, a rifle with a telescopic scope, a .44 magnum, .45 magnum, .347 magnum, a 12-gauge shotgun, bombs and a few bayonet knives, so you know, standard home security stuff. As their company grew so did their arsenal, much to the concern of the state police. The Headquarters is based in basically a house, very casual.
What is their mission statement?
The aim has remained the same throughout the companies history and that is 'Our love is to publish great
cartooning, in whatever form that takes". To be the publisher of the world's greatest cartoonists.
What different kinds of products do Fantagraphics publish? i.e. graphic novels? Comic Strips? Deluxe Editions?
Fantagraphics publish alternative comics, classic comic strips anthrologies, graphic novels and the adult-oriented Eros Comix imprint.

Content and Style
Charles Burns' "Robot Love" follows Chester Gould's visual style by being in black and white and having very strange grotesque characters.
Robot Love Dick Tracy

The narrative influence from Chester Gould's "Dick Tracy" is also found in Charles Burns "Robot Love" because the main character in both comics are a detective and the main focus of the story is the cases they solve. Also the locations used and the quite frankly disturbing themes used in the comics.
Robot Love Dick Tracy
Meaning
Robot love does have a dark tone, as it is about humans who what to alter themselves into robots, as in to remove everything that made them human and replace it with robot parts which is similar to the short comic in the video which was called "Big Baby".
Target Audience
The target audience for Charles Burns' "Robot Love" I think would be 18-25 year old males because of the more adult themes like swearing and because of the violence would stereotypically appeal to males more. I think Charles Burns has achieved this if it was his aim.
Characters
The characters in Charles Burns' "Robot love" are similar to the ones in "Big Baby" because the main characters have featureless almost alien faces. El Borbah really only has this kind of face because he wears a Mexican wrestler's mask all the time so he kind of has a reason not to have much of a face.
